MEETING CALLED TO ORDER at 1930 by Tim Murphy, eighteen
Members were in attendance.
PRESENTATION Scheduled speaker Lieut. Kevin Lewis was unable to attend and speak.
SECRETARY- Minutes of the January, 2012 meeting as recorded by John Reilly were read and accepted into the record.
TREASURER Treasurer Bill Gleeson reports a beginning balance of
$875.64 and received an additional $150.00 in 2012 dues for total of $1025.64. A motion to accept the Treasurers Report was made, seconded and adopted.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE No new membership applications have been received
since the last meeting. We currently have 27 paid up members, out of 60 enrolled.
OLD BUSINESS
Continuing Open Items- Inquiry is taking place regarding the Shields attendance at a NY Yankee vs. Atlanta Braves baseball game. Terry Wilson and Dean Smimmo have graciously consented to acquire group tickets. The date is open, sometime in June.

NEW BUSINESS Preliminary discussions were undertaken to begin planning for the Shields annual picnic. The date is tentatively set for the last week in May at a venue yet to be decided. A possible site is the Seven Hills Subdivision picnic/pool area.
The organization has begun planning for our participation in the Atlanta St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Peachtree Street on Saturday, March 17th, 2012. Details remain to be announced. Tim Murphy has been in contact with parade coordinator Ed Moran to secure a place in the line of march. A post parade celebration is also being considered
at a site to be announced. We hope to have the agenda settled and a list of attendees at the March 2012 meeting.
In the absence of Kevin Lewis, President Tim Murphy opened discussion on a proposal to make a donation in support of the Atlanta Defenders football team. There was mixed response to the initiative. A motion was made by Bill Wright to donate the proceeds of a 50/50 drawing, matched by a donation from our reserve. The motion was seconded and adopted unanimously. The amount collected was $100.00, which will assure us of a sponsorship in the Defenders Annual publication, we will also be eligible for two season tickets for all home games.
Bill Wright extended an invitation to the Shields to attend a Super Bowl party on Sunday, February 5th at the VFW.
MEMBER WELFARE (Good of the Order) No items extant.
NEXT MONTH’S MEETING- The March 2012 meeting will be on Friday, March 2nd, beginning at 1930 at the VFW Post. Your attendance is encouraged.
